Community Garden

At Doohamlet Community centre we are lucky enough to have an on-site biodiversity garden with a river running through it.

The garden was developed by community volunteers as part of a PEACE III funded project, and it created lots of very happy memories and pride for the participants.

The Garden is called 'Gairdín na gClog' (Garden of the Bells) due to it's location in the townland of Dernaglug (Doire na gClog, or Oak woodland of the Bells), and in spring it features Bluebells.

In 2023 Doohamlet Community centre started a partnership with Acquired Brain Injury Monaghan, who have a weekly community hub running in the Centre, and the group now assists us to maintain the garden and are developing new projects of their own in it.

In 2024 Doohamlet Group Water Scheme will also undertake a project to improve awareness of biodiversity and water quality.

The garden has an outdoor classroom area, and has been used for ecology and biodiversity workshops, as well as the local school and pre-school.

The garden is accessible to everyone - why not call in for a visit!
